What is the Chromebook Repair Techspert program?
The Chromebook Repair Techspert program is an eLearning initiative by Acer that trains high school students to perform basic hardware repairs on Acer Chromebooks. It allows students to gain hands-on experience by learning to replace components like batteries, mainboards, and LCD screens. Since its launch in 2018, nearly 400 students, teachers, and technicians have enrolled in the program across more than 15 schools.
How does the training process work?
Students in the program complete a self-paced course consisting of five chapters and over 30 lessons. They learn about Chromebook components through instructional videos and quizzes. After finishing the lessons, they schedule a final assessment where they perform an actual repair under the supervision of a staff member, who verifies their skills and provides feedback throughout the process.
What resources are available for students and teachers?
The program includes a variety of resources such as instructional videos, downloadable PDFs, and interactive mini-games to cater to different learning styles. Teachers have access to expanded rights in the course, allowing them to view reports and statistics on student progress. The program provides approximately 6.5 hours of instructional time, making it flexible for different class schedules.
